Residential architects in Sydney are lucky to work on a site of such caliber and locale as this one in Kurraba Point of North Sydney Council. The home is nestled amongst the leafy streets of Kurraba Point, is heritage listed, and is surrounded by many heritage listed homes.

Proposed alterations to this dwelling were to restore the significance of the Arts and Crafts dwelling, whilst also modifying the several additions that had been carried out to the home which sadly detracted from the architectural significance of the original home.

Roof forms to the car port and the extension were modified the closely relate to the steeper pitches of the original dwelling and the materials selection made the entire site sympathetic with itself. Modifications to the front fences and car port elevated natural stones and white feature elements and the home, as viewed from the street, no longer looked stitched together by clashing extensions.

At the rear of the property we modified the facade with its own unique, contemporary touches that could be enjoyed only by the occupants of the home. Internally the floorplan was rearranged so that circulation was significantly improved and the functionality of the master suite was elevated with added notions of reading nooks and functional storage.

The disconnect between the internal rooms and external terraces/landscape was modified by a new raised terrace that connected the extension and the original heritage listed home. From each of the spaces, the substantial outdoor spaces were now within convenient reach of anywhere in the home.

The locations of glazed roofs and new window openings allowed light to spill into these entertaining spaces. The connectivity of the entire site is the greatest achievement of the proposed alterations.
